Make Life Cozy, Shelburne, Vermont

I've been making art for as long as I can remember...

I was born in Denmark, and my family moved to Vermont when I was seven years old. I love color and nature, and draw inspiration from both.

I am largely self-taught, and enjoy exploring books about artists and art history. Making art gives my life a purpose that I cannot seem to find in any other way. In 2010 I started my business, Make Life Cozy, as a meaningful way to support myself through my art and teaching. I am fortunate to have a studio/shop in beautiful Shelburne, Vermont, overlooking the Adirondack Mountains.

Until 2015 I considered myself primarily a fiber artist, working with cloth and wool and paper and beads, making landscape “quilts” and needle- and wet-felted scenes and figures. I started painting seriously in April 2015 and absolutely love it. Because I am sensitive to the chemicals and smells associated with oil paints, I paint with acrylics and watercolors. I love to paint landscapes, and painting and sketching outdoors are the best!!

Vermont is such a beautiful place, and I feel so grateful to be surrounded by the scenery every day.  I love to capture the fleeting light of sunrise or sunset.

I have succeeded if my art makes you see nature, and especially Vermont, the way I do.

Thanks for looking, and visit me at work at Shelburne Pond Studios. Open by appointment or chance.
