In the spring of 2027, Two Sisters will embark on our second European fiber tour, hosted by Knitting Tours.com. With workshops, sightseeing, excellent accomodations, and lots of delicious food, you'll be in the midst of fellow fiber lovers both in Edinburgh and in the lovely Scottish country side. See below for a synopsis of each day. For logistics and cost, click here. Note: While our shop is located in Vermont, you don't have to live here to join us on our tour!

Day 1 – April 22, 2027 – Welcome to Scotland! 

--Arrive at Edinburgh

​--Meet your tour guide and fellow knitters for a welcome lunch (included) and brief introduction to your tour activities! 

​--Visit the Scottish Textile Experience

​--Enjoy exclusive shopping experience at Ginger Twist Studio followed by dyeing demonstration and a glass of bubbly.

​--Evening is at your leisure to relax and knit. 

​--Overnight at Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club  

Day 2 – April 23, 2027 – New Lanark Mill and Sanquhar Pattern 

-- Travel to a small market town of Sanquhar surrounded by breath-taking scenery and discover the Sanquhar Pattern

-- Visit New Lanark, a unique 18th century mill and UNESCO heritage site.

-- Explore New Lanark, learning more about its mill and social history -founded in 1786 and later taken over by Robert

   Owen, an influential social reformer. In Owen's time, over 2,500 people lived and worked at New Lanark, many from the

   poorhouses of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

--Return to your hotel where evening is at your leisure to relax.

Day 3 – April 24, 2027 – Felting Experience with Moy Mackay 

--Travel to the town of Peebles set against the backdrop of the scenic River Tweed in the Scottish Borders. Peebles'

   historic High Street is lined with charming independent shops, galleries, and boutiques, making it a wonderful place

   to wander and explore. 

-- Enjoy a full day creative experience with award-winning felt and stitch artist Moy Mackay at her beautiful gallery.

   Using merino fleece fibres and stitching instead of traditional brush and paint, Moy creates eye-catching ‘felted

   paintings’ where she combines aspects of the traditional craft of felt-making with painting in a truly magical way.

   During this workshop, you will learn Moy’s signature techniques and processes for creating stunning artworks using

   felt and stitch. 

--Return to your hotel where evening is at your leisure to relax.

Day 4 – April 25, 2027 – Luss, Auchindrain and Waulking Experience 

-- Breakfast and check out. Travel north-west via scenic Loch Lomond. Enjoy a short stop in the picturesque   

   conservation village of Luss before continuing onwards.

-- Pay a visit to Auchindrain, a remarkable preserved historic township in Argyll, Scotland, offering a vivid glimpse into

   traditional rural life with its thatched cottages, stone buildings, and centuries-old farming practices. Here, meet the

   group locally known as ’Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh’ which translates to the ‘Inverclyde Waulking Group.’ Waulking

   is a method of finishing newly woven tweed by soaking and thumping it steadily to shrink and soften it. The group

   sings Waulking Songs as they work!

-- Free time to explore the resort town of Oban before enjoying dinner at your hotel or at a local restaurant.

-- Overnight at 4 Star Oban Bay Hotel, Oban.

Day 5 – April 26, 2027 – Knitting Workshop with Deborah Gray
                                         and Highlands Exploring 

-- Take part in a knitting workshop led by Deborah Gray, a Shetland Wool Week instructor and designer! Your Tour Leaders will confirm six months prior to the tour start date whether your group will enjoy the Secrets, Illusions and Code Knitting class or the Moebius Workshop.

-- Journey onwards to the Scottish Highlands skirting the eastern shores of Loch Linnhe into a mystical landscape of sweeping slopes and rocky peaks. After lunch on your own and free time in the Highlands town of Fort William, continue onwards and stop in Fort Augustus, a picturesque and pretty village nestled at the southern tip of Loch Ness.

-- Overnight 4 Star Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness

Day 6 – April 27, 2027 – Loch Ness Cruise and Prickly Thistle Mill 

-- Join a cruise of breath-taking mysterious Loch Ness. Find out the mysteries of Nessie and maybe, just maybe, you will spot her yourself!

-- After lunch, visit Prickly Thistle, the only tartan-weaving mill in the Highland region of Scotland, where all cloths are woven on shuttle looms dating back to the 20th century.

-- On the return to Inverness, enjoy browsing and shopping the beautiful woven pieces at the Rebel Row Prickly Thistle shop.

-- This evening is at your leisure to enjoy dinner at one of local restaurants or relax at the hotel.

-- Overnight 4 Star Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness

Day 7 – April 28, 2027 – Scone Palace and Askival of Strathearn  

-- On the way back to Edinburgh, visit Scone Palace and Gardens, the crowning place of Scottish Kings, set in

   100 acres of woodland gardens.

-- Continue towards Perth to Askival of Strathearn for a Kilt Making Demonstration, where you will experience

   the process of traditional tailored kilt making, hear all about the history of the kilt and Highland attire, the

   tartans and the construction of the kilt. Discover the difference between good and bad kilts, how to tell a

   well-made tailored kilt and how it should fit.

-- Arrive at your hotel in Edinburgh in time for dinner.

Day 8 – April 29, 2027 – Gansey Knitting Workshop and Balmerino Farm 

--  Enjoy Gansey knitting workshop instructed by Di Gilpin. Di starts her workshop with a brief presentation on the history of Gansey knitting in Scotland, supported by samples of traditional pieces as well as some contemporary designs from the studio. Her workshop explores different gansey patterns in either blanket squares or a long sampler.

--  Free time in St. Andrews, a seaside town known for its many golf courses, for sightseeing, shopping and lunch.

--  Continue to the traditional, family-run Balmerino Farm, tucked away in a picturesque setting with stunning views over the River Tay. The farm offers a unique Farm-to-Yarn experience, where wool from their own flock, balmerino™ sheep, is transformed from fleece to finished yarn. The sheep are a combination of a Merino crossed with other Scottish breeds, a cross that has the hardiness to thrive in the Scottish climate and additionally produces fine, luxurious wool, so soft it can be worn next to the skin!ï‚· Evening is at your leisure to relax and knit.

Day 9 – April 30, 2027 – Kathy’s Knits & Lucy Hague, Yarn Shopping and Farewell Dinner! 

-- After breakfast, visit Kathy’s Knits, a small independent yarn and knitting store, where we meet with Lucy Hague.

   Lucy is a well-known pattern designer and author of Celtic Cable Shawls and Illuminated Knits. Take some time to

   browse through an array of yarns, patterns and accessories in stock at Kathy’s Knits.

-- Remainder of the afternoon is free to explore Edinburgh before returning to the hotel for a Farewell Dinner with

   your fellow travellers.

Day 10 – May 1, 2027 – Farewell Scotland! 

After breakfast, transfer to Edinburgh airport in plenty of time to check in and some last-minute duty-free shopping.
